Writing great blogs is probably the goal of most bloggers. I mean, who really want to write mediocre blogs? Sure, there are plenty of average blogs out there that are popular. But what makes great blogs great?

First, great blogs have an intriguing topic. How does that happen? Well you can look through blogging news or blogger info sites to see what is trending right now. It may be the latest blog on how mothers get through the day. Great blogs on this subject will probably present some humor as well as a different slant on the subject. If you are interested in the topic of motherhood, perhaps you can think of a way to personalize it in such a way that others will want to know more and keep reading. Great blogs will engage the reader and keep them wanting more. It may be a boring subject such as how to do home repairs, but if you present your topic in a way that has not been done before, you will gain readers.

If you want to keep readers coming back to great blogs that you have written, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Your site needs to be attractive. Who wants to sit and read a bunch of words on a plain background? Boring! Great blogs will incorporate pictures and graphics to emphasize their messages. Also, make sure that your background and colors are not jarring to the eye. Again, a reader will not stay on a site that makes their eyes and their mind crazy trying to get through the colors to the type.

Great blogs should also be easy to read. This means essentially that you need to make sure you use correct grammar and you do not have any misspellings. Readers do not want to get a headache trying to slog through your incorrect spelling and grammar mistakes. Use a dictionary if you have to. These mistakes can turn off your readers almost instantly and they just will not want to keep reading or even return to your blog.
