As the old saying goes, diamonds are a girls best friend. More than 80 percent of the women who are engaged receive diamond engagement rings. The admiration and appreciation of jewelry dates back thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, people were buried wearing rings which were made from a single silver or gold wire on the third finger of their left hands. It was believed to be connected directly to the heart by the vena amoris, or vein of love.
Today, many lucky women get designer engagement rings, such as tacori rings. Tacori rings are handcrafted and feature crescent silhouette design detail. They are modern, glamorous and elegant.
In 1944, the Diamond Council of America (DCA) was founded. It is a forum used to educate professionals in jewelry sales. Diamonds are a hot commodity, and are highly traded. Many different organizations have been created for the grading and certifying of diamonds them based on the four Cs. The four Cs are carat, cut, color, and clarity. The most famous diamond in the world is most likely the Hope Diamond. It is a 45.52 carat diamond which is a deep blue color. It is currently on display at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C.
