Skipping Dentist Visits Can Threaten Your Overall Health

Fear of the dentist, or odontophobia, is up there. People fear the dentist almost as much as public speaking, or death, and that is saying something. What people should be afraid of is a lack of proper dental care. Years without seeing the dentist will leave you with stained, yellow, or decaying teeth, and sometimes worse. Be proactive about your health, and know these top three reasons to visit the local dentist office.

Tooth Decay

With the abundance of sugary and fatty foods out there, it should come as no surprise that tooth decay is on the rise. Dentists are seeing more rotten teeth than ever. Frequent soda drinkers, or people who down 2 to 3 glass every day, are particularly susceptible. In fact, they are up to 62% more likely to have tooth decay. Some soda drinker teeth are decaying or rotting so badly that they fall out. The best dentists can help you get back in control, and take measures to make sure your smile stays in tact.

Orthodontia

Crooked teeth, including under bites and over bites, can be embarrassing, but they can also jeopardize your health, too. Malocclusions, or irregularities, can lead to abnormal teeth and disproportionate jaws.

Gum Disease

Gum diseases is serious. As many as 50% of American adults have gum disease, or gingivitis. The disease leads to swollen, irritated gums, discomfort, and more. Plus, sufferers of gum disease are twice as likely to contract heart disease, and that is plenty of cause for alarm.

Stay on top of your health. Your dental health can affect your overall health. Seek out your local dentist office, and stay happy and healthy for years to come. Continue your research here: thebestdentists.net

i am not surprised, but i am surprised (if that can possibly make sense), lol. I would expect that soda can destroy teeth, and I didn’t think gum disease was a GOOD thing, but i had no idea that it could increase your risk of heart problems, too. that’s crazy!
